Fourth Floor

Attic Extra linen, winter clothes, and other various items are
stored in the attic. The walls slope to a point near the ceiling.
Additionally, the attic holds all of the metal shutters that were
commissioned a long time ago. Entrance to the attic is from trap doors
that open on top of the hallways of the third floor.
Safe Room The House has close ties to the thieve's guild of
Newmoon. A safe room is located here for any thieves that might be wanted
by the law.
Tanus's Study Most of Tanus's time, when not spent
frolicking, is spent in this disorganized laboratory. A staircase leads
downards to the third floor, at the top of which is a locked door
protected by a fire trap; any intruders within 5' suffer 10d4+10 hp
of magical fire damage. A magic mouth has also been cast on the
door, and it warns anyone (besides Tanus) that "bodily harm will be
inflicted upon you if you continue upstairs".
The Lab and Forge In the middle of the lab stands a thick desk
made of obsidian. Writing appears to be etched into the stone slab,
though in fact it is an explosive rune; those reading it suffer
6d4+6 hp of damage with no saving throw. On the shelves that line the
walls of this room are various beakers and mysterious containers that make
up a mage's lab. If you're using Player's Option: Spells and
Magic, then the lab only contains enough ingredients to make two
potions (which have already been made). A long table stands further back
in the room and appears to be used primarily for dissecting. Monster
specimens that might be of interest include umber hulk eyes, dark naga
eyes, lernaean hydra eyes, medusa blood, giant eagle feathers, neogi venom
and hair, hell hound saliva, a manotaur's head, a troll's hand, and part
of a bulette's carapace. In addition, beholder eyes that once contained
the power to disintegrate, slow, and cause death can
be found floating in jars, in addition to seven eye stalks. On one of the
shelves lies a slender volume with the alchemical formulas for brewing
potions of Speed and Fire Giant's Strength. Further back
from the staircase and near one of the chimneys is a small forge.
Summoning Circle This room was originally designed to conjure
or dismiss extra-planar creatures. It is of appropriate size for
dismissal, ensnarment, banishment, binding,
and gate type spells. However, the circle inlaid on the floor is
still unfinished, and as such does not confer any bonuses.
