Lord Skye Ni'Tessine
Very intelligent, smug (maybe a little cocky), and completely clueless.

Wizard extraordinaire, Lord Dire of Sterich, Honored Lord of Tenh, and an Envoy of Celene, Skye Ni'Tessine travels all across the Flanaess and reports back to Celene everything that he learns. Charged with the task of keeping the Elven Court appraised of current events outside of his homeland, Skye does his best to get involved in whatever trouble he can find, figuring the best way to keep informed is by having a direct hand in foreign events.

Born of the Ni'Tessine House, a small but once-prominent House that suffered greatly at the hands of Vecna, Skye showed little potential as a young child. He had difficulty learning, didn't fit in well with the other kids, and worse yet he seemed oblivious to it all. It was only until Skye had reached 30 years of age that he suddenly showed an incredible talent for patterns and languages. Skye seemed to have an inherent understanding of the Art, and though it was a little late he was enrolled in the Academy of the Daedal Mind on a scholarship, an obscure but well-regarded school for wizards.

Used to genius-level caliber students, the instructors at the Academy were not impressed by Skye's flippant attitude and his disregard for those things that he was not immediately interested in. His initial studies were tough, but in time Skye learned to discipline himself and his mind. His apathy was replaced by a keen grasp of what he called the 'game', the social environment of words and relationships. This too held patterns.

Graduating with honors near the age of 90, Skye was now dearly liked by his instructors, and he came to the attention of the Elven Court. His keen intellect and budding talent was obvious, but more importantly his social aptitude and the ease with which he genuinely endeared himself to new crowds made him an ideal candidate for the Envoys. While Queen Yolande prefers an isolationist policy, she has an apt understanding of foreign events that sometimes surprises new guests. This is due in large part to the work of the Envoys of Celene, who are tasked with journeying across the Flanaess and reporting back all new developments. They are also asked to make contact with other elven settlements, and to facilitate communication with them.

Skye traveled across the Lortmil Mountains, passed through the Duchy of Ulek, and came upon the high elven community of Dieren in the Gran March. He decided that Dieren would make a good place to stage his expeditions, as well as to closely monitor the militant Gran March nation. Starting by enrolling in the Gran March army, Skye began the task of fitting into his new society and learning the culture of these new people. After ten years of grueling service in the pike corps, where he showed little potential, Skye finished his term and became a veteran.

Having earned his citizenship (and his freedom, as he thinks of it), Skye then began in earnest the task of visiting the rest of the Flanaess. He has since traveled to the cold lands of the Frost Barbarians, the inhospitable Bright Lands, the inimical UnderOerth, along the Nyr Dyv, the Ether Plane, the Sea of Dust, and to countless other areas filled with danger and lost lore. More importantly, he has earned the trust of the Runners of the Flame elven tribe, has joined the Oronodel elven clan in Highfolk, and has encountered his dark cousins the drow. He is also a strong proponent of the isolationist policy of Celene, and has on numerous occasions tried to ease relations with other people who feel that Celene has wronged them.

Funding his travels with the gold he makes from adventuring, Skye is now a capable mage of no small power, and the notes of his travels and prowess have earned him attention and some admiration back in Celene. In particular his tale of wooing the dark elf maiden Sikitha and turning her from her worship of Lloth has been popular with some of the more idealistic elves in Celene. While not particularly interested in caring for followers, Skye has a weakness for the opposite sex and has had difficulty turning away some devotees.
